Help! D265 Critical thinking: Reason and Evidence. (Help needed). ( self.WGU )

submitted 1 year ago by Next_Cap_7256

I am struggling significantly with trying to retain the information in this course. It is content heavy and there are so many different definitions and they all sound similar. Any tips, study resources would be greatly appreciated.

I have been doing them in flash card mode for the definitions. My strategy that seems to be helping me the most is writing the info in a white board (short definition) and then going through examples and referring to them on my white board as I go through them. Also the videos they have of examples and explanations of the answers have been immensely helpful

Thank you so much, the videos are great as well I agree. Unfortunately, they don't have videos for all the definitions. The reading is so heavy sighs. I'm going to try your white board method and see if it works for me as well. Thank you so much.

I’m on this class now. It’s my first and it’s been kicking my butt!!!

It seems like it should be easy but it is a lot of information. I’m scared to take the OA too soon.

What have you been doing to try to retain information??? I’m slowly starting to get it.

What I’ve been doing is watching the videos twice. Reading makes my mind wonder. So having the videos break stuff down has been helpful. I’ve also been writing down the definition on flash cards

Yeah, I'm an auditory learner so the terms discussed in the videos, those I remember. The other ones in writing, forget it. Sighs. I just started using a quizlet and I am still puzzled but I think I'm getting somewhere. I am afraid to take the PA because I don't think I even know enough yet.

[–] TodayDramatic B.S. Information Technology 1 point 2 points 3 points 1 year ago   (3 children)

I took the PA even before I started the class and I thought I’d do worse than I did.

Idk this class just makes feel like an idiot lol

[–] Next_Cap_7256 [ S ] 0 points 1 point 2 points 1 year ago   (2 children)

Sighs, I've never been so happy to hear this because that's exactly how it makes me feel too lol.

Yeah everyone kept saying how easy this class is and they passed in a day or just took the OA without studying and I’m like HOWWW ????

anyway good luck

[–] Next_Cap_7256 [ S ] 0 points 1 point 2 points 1 year ago   (0 children)

EXACTLY!!! How????? Because I'm stressed because of this class.

I am not a fan of this class… I have failed the OA twice but made vast improvement on my second attempt.

Here’s what I can tell you. Ask your instructor to send you a study plan. Why? It has a quiz for every section and then a longer readiness quiz. The instructor should also include a video resource guide where you can listen to someone go over the quizzes and essentially explain every question’s answer of why it’s right and so on. Listening to them explain the answers really made me feel more confident when I was taking the assessment. The reason I failed is more than likely because I second guessed myself on some of the questions.

There is not a whole lot of information on this class via Reddit, and if you feel the quizlets will help you then be my guest. But, them sending those resources I’m recommending will definitely help you. (Especially the video resource library where they walk you through it).

THANK YOU SO MUCH. I just emailed my instructor. Fingers crossed. All the best.

Have you taken the PA? This was one of those courses I kicked myself for putting too much effort in. OA was very similar.

[–] Next_Cap_7256 [ S ] 1 point 2 points 3 points 1 year ago   (1 child)

I haven't actually taken the PA because I was struggling to retain the information from the course material, so I was scared to even take the PA.

[–] s1lverstr1ker B.S. IT--Security 2 points 3 points 4 points 1 year ago   (0 children)

I waited on the PA because I was worried about the same, but I scored well enough on the PA that it actually helped my nerves

This class is kicking my butt, and I just keep putting it off because I cant retain any info!
