"If you’re looking for a place to write and join an open and inclusive community Write Club is without a doubt the place to be."

"I was super nervous about attending this session but I'm so glad I did! From the outset the club was welcoming and friendly and I even felt confident enough, in the short time I'd been there, to share my work with the group."

- SINEAD LAMBE

Nasri Atallah

"Write Club is exactly the kind of event series I have been hoping to see at Soho House x Soho Works. So great to join a community of like minded creatives, to do something so productive and inspiring together. Such a well organised, quality event."

- JACQUELINE MATHIAS

"What made the experience special was feeling an immediate sense of belonging. Everyone listened, everyone breathed. It was focused and structured but also lucid and calm. We were encouraged to search, for as long as we needed, for the right words, before putting pens to paper. Our guest speaker was open and candid, sharing pearls of wisdom - guiding us with generosity and humour. The experience instilled a shot of confidence in me and my writing. It made me feel like I’ve got this. Which is all I could’ve hoped for when I walked through the door".

- DAVID ALEXANDER

- KHAMISI McKENZIE

"It’s been a year since I joined Write Club, and in that time, it’s significantly helped me develop areas of my writing.

The opportunity to hear from other writers, directors, playwrights, actors and novelists helps remove the self-imposed barriers would-be writers sometimes place on ourselves. The exposure you gain from hearing from a range of people allows you to discover something new about yourself and your storytelling approach, getting you out of your creative comfort zones. You get to write and think in a way you may not be accustomed to.

Write Club is a space that can fuel creativity, offer inspiration, keep you grounded on your journey and hold you accountable to your ambitions to write, create and ultimately share your work with the world."

"Since attending my first Write Club several months ago I’ve made a point not to miss a session.  Writing can so often become a solitary and somber experience so the chance to experiment and explore different techniques and approaches in an open and friendly environment each month has been incredibly valuable. I’ve found the Write Club especially helpful in finding the joy in writing through sharing work and collaborating with others.

The breadth of the guest speakers’ experiences at the forefront of their fields presents the opportunity to gain an insight into the potential scope and power of language in mediums from Sanskrit-inspired poetry through to major blockbuster films.

The chance to experience and engage with such accomplished experts across such varied paths is a rare privilege and has been especially impactful for me as I’ve routinely found myself working pieces of experimental poetry, prose, and scripts developed during Write Club exercises into my projects.

Instrumental in expanding my creative horizons and opening my work to new perspectives and ideas; my writing owes a great deal to the Write Club, and I couldn’t recommend attending highly enough to any eager or aspiring writer. The chance to share a passion for the craft of writing with a cohort of welcoming and like-minded people is reason enough to come along and try."

‘It was great to add some structure and process to my writing, and to have feedback on my work. I enjoyed the tips and guidance around structure, process, character and plot. It was really lovely to meet other budding writers, and share challenges and successes with them.’

– Joshua, Original Course, Autumn 2019

‘The location was great – the artistic connections and accessibility. The tutors (being writers themselves) are witty, creative, fun, experienced and knowledgeable.’

– Shammy Batra, Original Course, Autumn 2019

Love books?

London creative club is pleased to offer regular literary events (live on zoom and in person), usually on friday evenings or the weekend.   we are just planning our next literary event so stay tuned.

Shakespeare Walk

Guided tour fee: £15

Meeting Point: Entrance to the George Inn on Borough High Street.  Close to London Bridge Tube Station.

End Point: Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese Pub on Fleet Street

“He was not of an age, but for all time.”

On our walk today we travel back in time to experience the sights, sounds and smells of Southwark over 400 years ago.  Together we walk the very streets that the Bard once trod and as we do so we explore the friendships and rivalries in his life, hear about the life of an actor and of a theatre-goer and learn about the ever important patrons, delving deep to find out more about the life of this enigmatic, remarkable figure and the world he once inhabited.

We begin our journey at The George Pub, London’s last remaining galleried inn.  From there we wander by Borough Market to the River Thames, enjoying the sights and sounds of Bankside and passing Southwark Cathedral, where Shakespeare’s brother Edmund lies buried.

We encounter the remains of the original Globe Theatre, as well as Sam Wanamaker’s triumphant reconstruction and walk by the old Rose Theatre, the Bear Gardens and see the Feryman’s seat where he would wait to ferry theatregoers back and forth.  We end our tour by crossing the river to Blackfriars to find the site of Shakespeare’s indoor theatre and explore this area north of the river which Shakespeare would have known well.

Our Tour Guide, Laura Adams

Enthusiastic and fun, Laura Adams is an experienced London Blue Badge Tourist Guide, former actress and storyteller. She loves to impart her knowledge of London in an engaging way and to bring the city to life. She has a special interest in women’s history (or her-story) and literature.

During lockdown she founded Women Inspire, a podcast and blog which seeks to shine a spotlight on remarkable women past and present, many of whom have gone unrecognised or been forgotten.

These courses are ideal for those who are curious about writing and have little to no prior experience in the field. There are no pre-requisite for these courses – all we ask is that you come with an open mind and a keenness to learn. That’s not to say they aren’t suitable for someone with more experience, though – if you’re looking to refresh your skills or experiment with a new area of writing, you’re also welcome to enrol.

These courses are ideal for those who have some experience in writing – as a hobby, or perhaps through academic or professional work – and are looking for challenging courses to hone their skills further. These courses are also a good next step if you’ve already taken a beginners’ class but don’t feel ready to commit to an advanced course yet.

These courses are ideal for seasoned writers who are serious about getting published. Entry to most of these courses is on an application basis and writers will usually be asked to submit samples of their work-in-progress or a past project.

" Creative writing workshops for children "

Whether your child is a confident writer or struggles to get their ideas down on the page, The Story Room has something for everyone. Our relaxed workshop approach nurtures and inspires young writers, enabling them to think creatively and to develop their writing skills. Our tutors and workshop leaders are writers who passionately believe in the benefits of writing for all. We understand the difficulties that a writer faces in communicating their creative thoughts effectively and this enables us to work with children of all writing levels.

We love what we do and are forever on the hunt for new story-writing ideas for our writers!

Our broad range of activities are for children aged 5-16 years old. We run holiday workshops, term-time writing clubs, bespoke writing workshops, children’s birthday parties, author workshops and book clubs.

The Story Room is currently in Winchmore Hill N21 and online.

Through our creative writing workshops, we provide a high energy, fun and nurturing environment for children to explore their imagination and express themselves in written form. Our workshop structure combine several years of experience as teachers, parents and authors to offer quality and stimulating workshops for your children. We keep our range of writing activities interesting and varied so that children keep coming back term after term! We have experience of working with disadvantaged and neurodiverse children.

We have been using Writing Champions as an after school club this half term and are extremely impressed. The children are really enjoying the club and the bubbling noise of excitement can be heard across the school! It is lovely to see so many children engaged in creative writing. We will definitely be using Writing Champions in the future.   Ms Poynter, Literacy Lead Scotts Park Primary School
Taylor absolutely loves to write, especially short stories and your classes have helped enhance her vocabulary and creativity. Your classes have given her the confidence to share her short stories with family and friends, whereas before she felt her work wasn’t good enough. We all agree her expression, use of similes and content have greatly improved and it is a pleasure to read her work.   Kelly Red Hill school
As a parent I have been really impressed by the careful planning and structured approach taken to the sessions. An outline of what will be covered in class is shared with parents at the beginning of term which is very helpful. The tutors are well engaged and always at hand to provide feedback at the end of the sessions. I also liked the certificate (or bookmark!) of achievement given to the children at the end of the term which makes them proud of the work they have done and the new skills learnt.   La Fontaine School
My son was a reluctant writer and reluctant reader before attending the creative writing sessions. After a term at Writing Champions, I have seen his interest in reading improve. He has even spontaneously picked up a pen and paper to write his own stories!   Mrs Rana La Fontaine School
My child really enjoys Writing Champions. She comes home enthusiastic about the sessions and having produced some wonderfully imaginative stories in various styles. I can really see the progress she is making and confidence growing. I also appreciate the easy and efficient online booking system and the clear communications from Writing Champions.   Fay La Fontaine School
Writing Champions have been running a creative writing club at our school now for two terms and it has been a very positive experience for all involved. The club is well organised and run by engaging staff members. The school has not had to be involved with any of the club admin and can fully rely on the team to ensure that it runs smoothly each week. The children who have attended so far have been excited about attending the club and full of praise for Miles who runs our sessions. It has been lovely to see some of our less confident writers have the opportunity to express themselves through their creative writing and expand upon their own ideas week by week.   Ms Harman, Literacy lead St Nicholas School
I really liked the sessions. The teacher was nice and supportive and was one of the best I ever had. The lessons were fun and imaginative. One of the best clubs I've ever been to.   Eva, Year 5 John Ball Primary School

Does my child need to bring anything to the writing class?

My school is not listed on your website. can i still register my child, is there a minimum age of child you accept, do you accept childcare vouchers.
